Comrade Reshetov

CC: Krai-Procurator Comrade Ovoshchnikov

As a result of conversations with and a review of appeals received from prisoners in the Special Block, I make the following observations:

1. Some individuals have been under investigation for a very long time.

2. According to the prisoner appeals few airings are granted.

3. During visits to prisoners' cells newspapers, journals, and books were not visible.

4. Those arrested request that they be furnished salt, tobacco, and paper.

5. Several are worried about harvesting their grain.

6. One of the prisoners began a hunger strike 7 August; he demands that he be sent to a concentration camp.

The thirty five appeals turned in are transferred to your office for a proper review since all the requests set forth in the appeals relate directly to your office.
