Report on expulsion from a collective farm in Middle Volga Krai, 1932

N. D. Andrianov from the village of Boiarkino ("Laborer" Kolkhoz) in the Middle Volga Krai joined the kolkhoz in 1931, in April 1932 he went to Moscow and began work on the construction of the "Ball Bearing (Sharikopodshipnik)" plant as an unskilled laborer at a salary of seventy rubles. At the beginning of June he received notification that he and his wife had been expelled from the kolkhoz for departing without permission to find work. To his request for an official decision to be issued, he received the verbal response: "Since you didn't ask for our permission when you were leaving, don't ask us for it now." Meanwhile the requestor's family remained on the kolkhoz and had to manage somehow to live.
