Collective letter from schoolchildren at Volkhovstroi to Kalinin, December 1932
RGASPI, f. 78, op. 1, d. 432, ll. 4-4ob. Original manuscript.
To the All-Union elder M. I. Kalinin from the school- age children at Volkhovstroi.
To our dear proletarian leader M. I. Kalinin.
We school age children as the progressive vangart ask you to impruve our food situation, since we children at Volkhovstroi don't have any food for anybody. We go to lunch in the general cafeteria, we get soup there with sour cabbage, and theyve flavered in salid [apparently, flavored it with salad ingredients]. Its gotten unbearable for us to study with such food. They feed us like pigs. Consider our food situation, give some animal fats for us. . . . Mikhail Ivanovich Kalinin, we look forward to your answer. We ask from our heart for your help with food, to improve the food.
