Letter
from Dimitrov to Andreev requesting help in identifying Baltic and Polish
comrades for Comintern work.
TO
THE SECRETARY OF THE CC VKP(B)
Com.
ANDREEV A. A.
After
the arrest of the former leaders and representatives of the Communist parties
of Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia in Moscow as enemies of the people, sincere
communists in those countries have been left disoriented and with no
connections to the Comintern. We do not now have a single reliable comrade from
these parties here in Moscow on whom we could count to establish connections or to
send eventually to the country.
Meanwhile,
there is in the USSR, no doubt, a number of tested Lithuanian, Latvian,
Estonian and Polish communists, members of the VKP(b), who could be used to
rebuild the leading organs of the corresponding parties and to renew party work
[there].
In
view of this, the ECCI Secretariat asks the CC VKP(b) to select a group of
comrades to be used for work in the Communist parties of Lithuania, Latvia,
Estonia and Poland – Lithuanians, Latvians, Estonians, Poles, 2-3 of each --
[they should be] VKP(b) members.
All
these comrades have to be fluent in the native language.
General
Secretary of the ECCI
